Darren Emerson comes to Bullitt with quite a robust résumé. Two decades of dance music dominance has solidified his rank as one of the UK’s most well respected house producers. His new label Detone launched this past spring, and has focused exclusively on club singles by Emerson and other like-minded producers. “Gracelands,” the label’s first single, includes an original mix by Emerson and Jamie McHugh, with remixes by Steve Cobby and Christian Smith. “Decisions,” Detone’s sophomore release, features a hard-hitting tech house original with a remix by Christopher Sylvester and Matt Tolfrey. Both in his productions and live performances, Darren continues to give us a peek at what’s in store for tomorrow’s tech and progressive house sounds. “No rules, no limits. It’s just you and the music.” These words from Satoshi Tomiie’s “Back To Basics” (Motorcitysoul Remix) demonstrate why he’s been at the forefront of the electronic music scene since the early 1990s. His versatility in house and techno (informed by his early Chicago & Detroit influences) make him a fitting addition to the Bullitt roster. Tomiie has remixed mainstream pop artists such as Mariah Carey, U2, Simply Red and David Bowie, but he is best known for his house classic, "Tears," and his 2000 hit “Up in Flames” from his debut full length album, Full Lick. He recently expanded his creative reach even further with the launch of his record label, SAW.RECORDINGS. Satoshi is currently preparing to hit three continents before the end of the calendar year, with shows in Japan, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Romania, Canada, and the United States. Dave Clarke, a.k.a. “The Baron of Techno” joins Bullitt for North and South American representation. This techno legend has remained in the limelight due to his signature style of relentless cutting and scratching during his dark, funky, electro-inspired sets which have stunned crowds from London to Buenos Aires and back. He is a futurist with the intent of delivering music to the ears of the global dancing public and has produced classics such as Red 1, Red 2, & Red 3. He continues to spread his sound around the world via his radio show White Noise. Clarke is indeed a man of many sounds, but he’s undeniably an international techno ambassador of the highest degree. Tech Talk sheds light on the ever-evolving technological side of DJing and producing. Early adopters, look here as our artists show off their latest gadgets and obsessions. Everyone else - just try to keep up! This month, Luca Bacchetti invites the Bullittin behind the curtain.
What piece of technology do you find yourself using most during tours, and why? (This could be any piece of technology: cell phone, ereader, wireless charger, etc)
For touring I usually pack 2 MacBook Pros, one of which is simply my "record bag" and my recording studio clone, and the other is dedicated to everything else. I also carry an iPad, an iPhone, an iPod, a BOSE portable monitor, a Korg mini keyboard, an X1 by NI, and two portable hard drives. This equipment allows me to have all my music with me and above all enables me to make music and develop new ideas wherever I am. An idea can come at any time and the worst thing is to get the inspiration and not be able to nail it down. I'm all for the "just in case” philosophy.
How do you feel about the iPad? New toy for play, or a new tool for artists?
It's certainly not to be underestimated, and there are some interesting applications for music production. Recently during a flight I hooked up some headphones to the iPad, and I built a rhythm track with one of the many compatible drum machines. Then, I exported the files to iTunes and later to the Ableton arranger. The sound is exceptional, and it makes it even easier to create music anywhere. The iPad can also be used for live shows, both as an instrument and as a controller, and so much more!
What is your favorite website to visit when surfing the Internet and why?
I don't have a favorite web site. I surf randomly or search exactly what I need in any given moment.
You recently launched the website for your new label, Hideout – going into the project, how did you want to use technology to showcase Hideout?
Yeah! We are still developing the website, which is not 100% complete yet. We're looking into various options, and obviously at some point during the live shows we will be introducing some new ideas. I am working on a particular project that still needs time and some considerable investment, but it's all very top secret! All I can say at the moment is that it's going to be a really HOT autumn!

Coming out soon on Atlantic Records USA, “The Days To Come” is the latest offering from Arno Cost and his frequent collaborator, Arias.
