Bullitt Spotlight: Nic Fanciulli

For the winter edition of the Bullittin, we bring you cuts from a candid conversation with British DJ/producer Nic Fanciulli. Bullitt’s own Arash Shirazi sat down with the Saved Records founder over dinner in London to ask questions about the highs and lows of 2009 and surviving the road-warrior lifestyle:
You recently went to Mauritus. That’s pretty difficult to get to! Tell us about it.
It's the most untouched and beautiful island I have ever visited. I highly recommend it as a vacation spot.
What was the highlight of your events in 2009? Any favorite gigs?
My U.S. tour in May, definitely. It was the first time I felt that America 'got' house music, and in every state I played!
Your label is called Saved Records. How did you come up with this name?
It was the only name left that still had a web domain available. My vision for Saved is to find and showcase records that are timeless.
What are your musical influences outside of dance music?
Oasis, Happy Monday, Stone Roses.
What’s your favorite city to play in?
Tokyo.
What is your number one tip for surviving the road-warrior lifestyle?
Never have a big night out when you’re on a long haul flight the following day.
What would be served at your last supper?
Bruchetta, spaghetti al peperoncino, and crème brulée.

Bullitt Welcomes Joris Voorn and Audiofly

Christmas came early in 2009 for Bullitt Bookings with the addition of two landmark acts to the family.
Dutch wunderkind Joris Voorn joins our roster for North and South American representation. Along with fellow Hollanders Miss Nine and Don Diablo, Joris proves that Holland is a hotbed for musical talent. It’s a miracle of modern connectivity that Joris found time to unleash smashes like Chase the Mouse and Sweep the Floor as his touring schedule had him bouncing from Bangkok to Bristol to Buenos Aires and back.
Joris currently has a new chart of favorite tracks up on Beatport—check it out here.
Bullitt is also pleased to announce the addition of Audiofly, comprised of Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton, for representation in North America. The talented twosome are Barcelona residents—joining fellow BCN residents and Bullitt artists Davide Squillace and Luca Bacchetti. Audiofly are already known for spinning their funky/functional sets at the world’s leading venues, and we’re excited to keep bringing their sound stateside!
We can’t wait to see what these fresh faces have in store for us in 2010!

Umek, Don Diablo Sweep the States Off Its Feet

For the first time in a decade, Uros Umek landed stateside for a whirlwind tour that took him from coast to coast, and the Slovenian techno God left a multitude of new fans in his wake. Not even a blizzard could stop Umek from filling up a dance floor in New York City!
The US tour—in addition to his events in other corners of the globe—has drummed up mounting buzz for the release of Umek's full-length studio album—Responding to Dynamic (1605)—scheduled for an early February release. We've heard the finished tracks, and the work is exemplary in quality and groove. Keep your eyes on the Bullittin for all the latest information about Umek.
This month, flying Dutchman Don Diablo also completed his first North American tour, taking in cities like Chicago, Phoenix, Toronto, El Paso and San Diego. The hotly tipped artist/DJ/producer was recently called 'man-of-the-moment' by NME, 'a future star' by dance music connoisseur Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) and even saw Kanye West promoting the video of his new single Hooligans on his blog.
Don Diablo is currently promoting Hooligans—a collaboration with UK rapper Example—which is out now through Ministry of Sound America. While Don has now left snowy, blustery North America for the Summadayze Festival tour in Australia, we’ll be sure to let you know when he’s headed back!
