Bullitt Spotlight: Sultan

We go one-on-one with Sultan in this month's Bullitt Spotlight.
While on a heavy tour schedule supporting the release of his Global Underground Nubreed compilation, Sultan has still found time to get in the studio with production partner Ned Shepard and release several new originals and remixes. We catch up with him on his current and future projects.
You are currently on a worldwide tour promoting your new Global Underground Nubreed compilation. How is it going?
The tour kicked off at the end of August and the responses to the shows and the compilation have been amazing so far. I’ll be continuing on to Canada, The US, Middle East, Asia, Central and South America in the next three months before heading back to Europe at the end of December.
Kitsch, your new single on the German label Great Stuff and your remix of You Can Be the One by Late Night Alumni on Ultra Records are both featured on Beatport’s front page this week. Isn’t it amazing how much support you are getting from Beatport?
For sure! Beatport has been super supportive of all my productions and releases this year and it’s definitely given me, my music and my label, Harem Records, a lot more visibility and exposure.
After a year of focusing on remixes, aside from Kitsch, you have two new originals coming out next month: Roads Under Ramallah and Crimson Sun. Tell us more about these releases.
Both these releases came about while I was working on my Nubreed and are both featured on the compilation. After working on several remixes throughout the year, I was very inspired to get back to work and focus on originals. Both productions are moodier than my previous releases and are much influenced by the tribal tech sound. I also developed a really great friendship with Dirty Vegas this year and was really excited to feature them on 'Crimson Sun.'
We’ve heard several people joke around and say they would pay money to see you cut your dreads. Any plans for a new hairdo in the near future?
Haha, if you’re asking me if I’m thinking of shaving my hair then the answer is definitely NO! I am however considering cutting them to my shoulders.
Rumor is you are about to get tattooed on a very popular TV show. Can we get the scoop about it?
Rumors spread fast! Keep watching TLC and you just might see me...or not.
